Caught one of the rare moments with blue patches in the sky to do a little study of the winter wonderland here this winter. The advantage (or challenge) to use Painter instead of Photoshop is cutting down on the basics. Using one simple brush and keeping layers simple, forcing myself to build up tones traditionally from back to front without tricks or shortcuts. And most importantly, taking the time to really observe carefully and learn. 2.5-3hrs.

Yesterday when I was coming from work , too lazy to cook anything at home i stopped at McDonalds to fill&kill myself a bit. While eating I observed this bavarian dude with the Stalin style moustache and almost chocked laughing. Couldnt resist to do a sketch of him. Early morning Ipad plein air of the Austin Dam. A police officer pulled up, and flashed his light into my jeep, wondering what in the world I was doing. I love digital painting from nature, but for me – I do not like for my work to be obviously done on a computer. I try to obscure strokes that look too digital.

I will be printing my images on an Epson 24 inch inkjet printer. What is the ideal PPI to use when setting up a new painting? I typically use the 96 PPI, is this enough?
