I painted this over the course of a late night figure drawing salon in downtown Los Angeles. This particular one had the theme of the sci-fi illustrator Frank Franzetta. The gallery girls like to draw artists out (pun intended) with these themed situations. I guess it makes it more interesting for some people.

At Redondo Beach Pier (and I’m sure in other places where people are fishing), one can get amazingly close to the pelicans to the point that one can touch them if one’s quick. The pelicans wait for opportunities to steal the fishermen’s catch. Some fishermen futilely try to scare them away while, other make the pelicans get the fish from their hand.

Marina Del Rey: This is a view of the peninsula in the Marina del Rey. Around this body of water is a park, a small beach, restaurants, and apartment buildings. It also has an outlet to the pacific ocean. Its a beautiful place.

Malibu Lagoon SB: The Malibu Lagoon attracks flocks of ducks and other sea birds. About 100 feet south of it is the beach. This beach attracks flocks of surfers.

Re-worked it a bit. Added the blues, reds, yellows, and bling blings as Shaddy suggested. I was trying to figure out the rhytm of the colors. Not sure if I got it right. However, sure looks juicer.

A Jaguar XJ6 we bumped into on one of our Sunday Painting Posse trips in the city of Pasadena. This Jaguar had spider webs, flat tires, and it seem it has not been moved for a few of years. If I remember correctly, it’s license plate tags were from 1995.
